About Vukla

Vukla answers one question, and answers it properly. What does this appliance actually cost to run, in pounds for a household in Great Britain and in dollars for a household in the United States, on the tariff that applies right now.

Why the site exists

Most running cost articles quote a unit rate that expired two price cap periods ago, then guess at a wattage. That gives readers a number that feels precise and is quietly wrong. We take the published Ofgem cap rate for the period we are in, we take the power rating from the maker's own specification sheet, and we show both sources on the page so anyone can check the arithmetic.

How we are funded

Vukla carries display advertising. Advertising has no say in what we publish, which appliances we cover, or what the numbers come out at. We do not take payment for a favourable figure and we do not let an advertiser see an article before it goes live.

Who writes it

Two people. Ellen Hartwell edits and writes the guides, Marcus Bell builds the calculators and sources the power ratings. Both are named on every article they work on, with a page you can read before you decide to trust a number.
